ChatGPT Plans and Prices Compared: Free, Go, Plus, Pro (2026)
ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business plans side by side: US prices as of October 2026, what each includes, and which caveats to check.

As of October 2026, ChatGPT has four plans for individuals in the US: Free ($0), Go ($8/month), Plus ($20/month) and Pro, which OpenAI listed at $200/month in January 2026 but which third-party sites now describe as three tiers at $100, $200 and $500. Teams can choose Business plans, and large organisations can negotiate Enterprise contracts. All prices are in USD and exclude tax.
One important caveat: we could not check OpenAI's live pricing page for this guide, and most current figures come from third-party sources dated September–October 2026. Plans, limits and prices change often, so confirm everything at chatgpt.com/pricing before you subscribe.
How much does ChatGPT cost? Plans at a glance
The only official reference we have is OpenAI's announcement of ChatGPT Go's worldwide launch, published around mid-January 2026. It named three paid individual tiers: Go at $8/month (with prices varying by country), Plus at $20/month and Pro at $200/month.
Third-party pricing guides from September and October 2026 list the following US prices: Free at $0; Go at $8/month, roughly $96 a year; Plus at $20/month, roughly $240 a year; and Pro split into $100, $200 and $500 monthly tiers, with the top tier said to include an "Ultrafast" option. We found no official OpenAI page confirming the three Pro tiers.
For organisations, the same sources list Business Standard at $25 per user per month, or $20 when billed annually, and Business Premium at $125 per user per month, or $100 annually. Enterprise pricing is custom and billed yearly.
What do you get with ChatGPT Free?
The Free plan offers unlimited everyday text conversations on the default model. For casual questions, drafting and explanations, you can use it without paying anything.
The catch is that most tools are capped separately: file uploads, image generation, voice, data analysis, deep research, memory and Codex each have their own limits. When you hit one, you wait for it to reset. Since the 2026 ad rollout, Free also shows ads, though how widely they run and in which countries is still not fully clear.
ChatGPT Go: what is the $8 plan?
Go sits between Free and Plus. It debuted in India in August 2025 and later expanded to 171 countries with local pricing, which is why OpenAI flags its $8 US price as country-dependent.
According to OpenAI's launch materials, Go gives you more messages, uploads and images than Free. One secondary source puts the message allowance at about ten times the Free level, but that figure is not officially confirmed. Like Free, Go includes ads, and it does not carry the full set of advanced tools found in Plus.
Is ChatGPT Plus worth it compared with Free?
Plus is mainly about higher limits. You get far more access to advanced models and tools, including voice, image generation, file analysis and deep research, plus priority access and faster responses when demand is high. Sources also mention projects and expanded Codex usage, and Plus has no ads.
Which specific model each plan uses shifts every few months, and the model names circulating online come from unofficial sources. Rather than choosing based on a model name, check OpenAI's help center for the current lineup.
A simple rule of thumb: if you use ChatGPT a few times a week for short questions, Free will probably do. If you analyse long documents daily, generate images often or rely on deep research reports, you will run into Free's caps quickly, and Plus starts to make sense.
ChatGPT Pro vs Plus: who needs Pro?
Pro targets heavy users who regularly exhaust Plus limits or need the highest reasoning settings and fastest throughput. Its structure is the least certain part of the lineup: OpenAI's January 2026 page described a single $200 tier, while October 2026 third-party guides list $100, $200 and $500 options.
Until you see the tiers on OpenAI's own pricing page, treat the three-tier structure as unconfirmed. For most individual users, Pro is hard to justify unless Plus limits are a daily obstacle.
How much are ChatGPT Business and Enterprise?
Business plans require at least two seats. Premium is said to provide five times the usage of Standard. One secondary source reports that OpenAI cut Business prices in April 2026, bringing the annual rate to $20 per seat, level with Anthropic's Team plan; we could not confirm that cut officially.
Business, like Plus and Pro, is reported to be ad-free. Enterprise has no published price and is negotiated directly with OpenAI on annual terms. Seat minimums and the Premium tier are among the details most likely to change.
Do ChatGPT prices differ by country?
Yes. Go was launched with local pricing, and local prices also exist for other plans in some markets. In Türkiye, for example, CNN Türk reported around the turn of 2025–2026 that Plus cost 499.99 TL a month. In June 2026, the Turkish retailer blog İtopya reported that mobile prices had nearly doubled to 999.99 TL, while web subscriptions stayed at $20.
The lesson for anyone outside the US: the price can depend on where you pay, whether through the App Store, Google Play or the web, and local taxes apply on top. Compare channels before subscribing, and start monthly before committing to an annual plan.
