Nvidia announced on October 13, 2026 that it plans to invest in four French startups: healthtech platform Doctolib, materials-discovery company Entalpic, robotics developer Genesis AI and enterprise software firm Pigment. Chief executive Jensen Huang, speaking at a press conference in Paris during a European tour, said the investments were meant to "kickstart the artificial intelligence revolution in Europe."

The chipmaker did not disclose how much it is putting in, though French press reports describe the deals as minority stakes. Huang said Nvidia invested at least $8 billion in Europe last year, and the company says its total commitments to the European technology ecosystem now approach $10 billion.

Doctolib bets on its own models

Doctolib, which lets patients book doctor appointments and increasingly store and share medical records, was valued at 3.6 billion euros in a funding round earlier this year. Its CEO, Stanislas Niox-Chateau, said the new money will accelerate hiring and the development of in-house AI models powering assistants for patients and doctors, as well as tools for administrative work.

Niox-Chateau said the company will run those models on Nvidia chips so it keeps control of both the technology and patient data, rather than relying on proprietary systems such as those from OpenAI or Anthropic. In August, Doctolib launched an AI research programme studying data from its 50 million users to help people navigate the healthcare system. Genesis AI, for its part, welcomed Nvidia as a strategic investor.

Compute for UK safety research

Separately, Nvidia pledged a compute donation worth $250 million over five years to support agentic AI safety and security research in the United Kingdom. According to the company, part of it will go to the SOFAIR lab at UCL, BOLD at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London, with the rest serving the wider UK research community.

The moves come only weeks after Nvidia agreed to acquire France-founded Hugging Face in a deal valued at roughly $12.9 billion, one of the largest in its history. Nvidia has previously backed French companies including Alice&Bob, Gradium and Scintil Photonics, and it has been building partnerships across France around sovereign AI infrastructure and open models. Huang is scheduled to deliver a keynote at GTC Berlin on October 21, 2026.
